Winter Finally Arrives

Although much of the U.S. and Europe has had a largely snowless winter to date, the temperature has finally started to feel seasonal and snowfall will certainly follow. Other parts of the northern hemisphere have been experiencing more wintry weather, such as Harbin, China, which opens its famous Ice Festival tomorrow, January 5.

From the Far East to the Mississippi River, from Moscow to Stonehenge, here are some recent chilly scenes from around the world.

Cute Cats Playing With Snow

As winter is coming, as the matter of fact, many part of the world already covered in snow. And I guarantee that no one, and certainly no thing, looks more glorious in the snow than these cats. I did saw a few videos of cat that don't like snow at all, but these are wonderful photos of cats enjoying themselves in snow.

They sure stand out in a white background. Meow...

Icy gradient

I'm into sponging lately! I really like the gradient effect. There were many things I could do to take this design to the next level (painting snowflakes, adding rhinestones, etc.), but I couldn't decide and just left it like this. It actually doesn't need more!

I used two blue colours for making a perfect gradient (OK, nearly perfect). The lightest blue, in the middle, is Essence Choose Me! (a beautiful glittery greenish blue) and is currently one of my favourite polishes. In the end I applied Essence Glisten Up! (blue flakies) all over the nail. I really recommend these two if you like the colours, they have great application and are very cheap!

Argh, I hate it that the shape of my nails aren't all alike on this picture...

Snowflakes 2.0

So here's the second version of the snowflake manicure, I used different colours but also added a silver gradient (using a sponge) on the background. I made this one on my sisters nails.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Snowflakes

This is another design I made a few years ago. Posting it now seemed very appropriate to me, cause it's snowing very much in Holland. This is one of my favourite designs so far! Sadly it wasn't my own idea, it's a remake from this video tutorial on YouTube.
